Sardinian Artistic Handcraft

Weaving Art...

THE DRAWINGS

A portion of our creations is characterized by the reimagining of decorative motifs belonging to the extensive repertoire of Sardinian textile tradition. Over the years, however, through intensive research and experimentation, new collections have been introduced, with designs developed through in-house projects or in collaboration with prominent artists, under the belief that tradition and innovation can be the winning combination for contemporary artisan craftsmanship.

The production type is highly varied, always crafted as unique pieces or very limited series, and includes carpets, tapestries, bedspreads, curtains, tablecloths, cushions, table runners, towels, and, in general, everything related to textile home furnishings.

The Technique

The decorative elements are crafted using the technique known as ‘a pibiones’ (grape clusters), known for its characteristic raised effect.

All the carpets, produced in both large and small sizes, are densely adorned, colored, or simply played upon with the raised effect. Each piece, unique due to its artisanal craftsmanship, is made from natural materials: linen, cotton, and locally sourced sheep’s wool.

Our Team

The Textile Cooperative SU MARMURI was founded in Ulassai in 1971, and to this day, we represent the oldest all-female company in Sardinia.

Many consider our experience a success story, but for us, it’s simply a tale of resilience and values. After more than 50 years, we are still here, and we are proud to have achieved this as women in our land, preserving and celebrating the ancient knowledge of our culture. We are aware of being bearers of a very rare ‘know-how’ that we have a duty to pass on to future generations.
